Qatar Clears 85% of Flood Reports as Teams Work Nonstop to Drain Roads

Qatar’s Public Works Authority has cleared 85% of reported rainwater flooding cases, as emergency teams continue round-the-clock operations to manage the impact of heavy rainfall.

Majority of flood reports resolved

Out of 770 reported water accumulation cases, most have already been handled, with work ongoing to clear the remaining areas.

The most affected locations include:

  • Al Wakrah

  • Al Wukair

  • Industrial Area

  • Mebaireek

Massive response on the ground

Ashghal mobilized teams early in the week, working closely with the Ministry of Interior, traffic authorities, and municipalities to respond quickly.

On-ground support includes:

  • 370+ water tankers

  • 44 mobile pumps

  • Technical teams stationed across key areas

Real-time monitoring and coordination

The Rain Emergency Room is actively tracking conditions using data from Qatar’s Meteorology Department, with the heaviest rainfall recorded in:

  • Al Wakrah

  • Al Karaana

  • Meknes

Teams are focusing on keeping main roads and tunnels clear, ensuring traffic continues to move smoothly despite the weather.

Drivers get live updates

Authorities are also updating digital traffic signs in real time to guide motorists and share safety instructions.

Preventive work already in place

Ahead of the rainy season, Ashghal carried out large-scale maintenance, including:

  • Servicing 170,000+ drainage inlets

  • Cleaning 658 km of drainage networks

  • Maintaining 120+ tunnels

What residents should do
