Engineer Tamim Al-Abed, project manager for Lusail World Cup Stadium, revealed that the stadium is 100 percent ready to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, after obtaining all approvals confirming the completion of its facilities for the global event.

Al-Abed added in an exclusive interview with Qatar News Agency (QNA): "The stadium is 100 percent ready, and it obtained the approval of the Civil Defense Department in December of last year, and last July it received the approval of the Security Systems Department in the Ministry of Interior, and obtained a certificate of completion the building, after the number of completed working hours reached about 60 million working hours.

He pointed out that with regard to the logistical work in the vicinity of the stadium, whether in terms of crowd services, first aid and tickets, work is being prepared and completed about two months before the start of the World Cup, as it is subject to modification and change from one match to another.

He said about the ongoing preparations to host the stadium, located 15 km north of Doha, for the Lusail Super Cup match on September 9, which will bring together the Saudi and Egyptian league champions: Undoubtedly, it is important for the stadium to host this type of matches, which enjoy a large crowd, and expectations are that the crowd attendance in this confrontation will reach about 80,000 fans. The Lusail Stadium project manager explained that the stadium’s preparations to host the World Cup final have taken into account the transportation component and the ways to reach the stadium, and this includes several means, whether private cars, taxis, and the bus network, and there is coordination between the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy And ministries and institutions in the country in this regard, in addition to working to provide giant parking spaces in places close to the stadium, ease and smooth movement and the roads leading to it, and the mechanism for the masses to flow to it via the metro, through Lusail station, which is only 600 meters from the security gates For the stadium, a constant inspection of the turf, cooling and lighting process is also carried out.

It is noteworthy that the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 kicks off on November 20 with the opening match between Qatar and Ecuador at Al Bayt Stadium, and the tournament will witness 64 matches over 29 days, and the curtain falls on the competition on December 18 at Lusail Stadium, which can accommodate 80,000 fans.
