Qatar Reports Missile Attack on Energy Sites, No Injuries

Qatar’s Ministry of Defence confirmed on Monday, March 2, that two missile attacks struck energy-related facilities in the country, with no injuries or fatalities reported, as tensions in the region continue to escalate.

In a statement released through official channels, the ministry said one of the missiles hit a water storage tank at the Mesaieed power and industrial area, while the other impacted an energy facility in Ras Laffan Industrial City, a major hub for LNG and gas processing operated by QatarEnergy.

Mesaieed, located about 36 km south of Doha, hosts refineries, power stations and fuel storage facilities critical to Qatar’s energy infrastructure, while Ras Laffan, roughly 80 km north of the capital, is one of the country’s main industrial cities for liquefied natural gas production and related operations.

The ministry statement said that “all damages and losses will be assessed by the relevant authorities” and that further official details will be issued following evaluations of the attack sites.

Authorities have urged the public and residents to remain calm and rely only on verified information from official state sources, cautioning against the circulation of rumours or unverified reports on social media.

The strikes come amid a wider escalation of hostilities in the Middle East, with neighbouring countries also reporting missile and drone incidents targeting military and infrastructure sites in recent days.

Regional airspace closures and heightened defence alerts have disrupted travel and raised concerns about energy market stability.

Despite the attacks on key facilities, Qatari authorities said emergency response teams are in place and that overall security measures remain robust to protect citizens, residents and critical infrastructure.
