Qatar Airways Hosts First-Ever In-Flight E-Sports Tournament

Gaming while flying? Qatar Airways just made it a reality. The award-winning airline officially hosted the world’s first-ever in-flight e-sports tournament—‘Gaming in the Sky’—on a flight from Doha to London on May 11, 2025. Yup, 35,000 feet just became the new battleground.

Powered by next-gen Starlink internet, the experience delivered ultra-fast, low-latency Wi-Fi to keep the gameplay seamless—because lag in the sky is so 2024.

The competition featured two epic teams, Team Burgundy Oryx and Team Grey Aviators, squaring off in a friendly sky-high showdown. The roster was stacked with global gaming and entertainment stars like Tfue, Castro1021, Lisa Zimouche, Alodia Gosiengfiao, and more, with Oussifooty hyping it all as host.

The whole vibe? Think FIFA matches, epic plays, and live updates beamed straight to Qatar Airways’ socials in real time—talk about inflight entertainment 2.0.

Qatar Airways Group CEO Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer said: “At Qatar Airways, we are constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the sky to deliver an in-flight experience that captures the imagination and makes you feel right at home. This competition represents a bold step into the future of passenger engagement and comfort when flying with Qatar Airways.”

This move comes as the airline wraps up Starlink upgrades on its Boeing 777 fleet and rolls out the world’s first Airbus A350 with built-in Starlink connectivity—translation: free, fast Wi-Fi for gaming, streaming, and more.

The skies aren’t the limit—they’re just the beginning.
