Qatar to Host the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027

The Qatar Basketball Federation has received the hosting rights for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027, so all the games of the prestigious tournament will be played in Doha, Qatar.

The 2027 World Cup will be the first time the FIBA Basketball Worldcup will be hosted in the MENA region, which will help promote the sport in this region.

FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis said "I would like to congratulate QBF on their successful bid, and we are very confident that this event will be one of the highest quality both on and off the court. "

All 32 participating teams will be playing in the same city for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027, therefore fans will get the chance to access many games since the venues for the World Cup are within 30 minutes of each other. 

All venues to be used for the FIBA's flagship men's event are already constructed and during the event, green technologies will be widely used to make the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 a carbon-neutral event. 

Qatar's capital Doha receives direct flights from most of the participating countries, therefore many basketball fans outside of the Gulf region will get to attend the Basketball Worldcup. The city also upgraded public transport and subway networks for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which will serve visitors for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 as well.
