Qatar and the US signed a series of defence and trade deals on Wednesday, May 14, after US President Donald Trump arrived in the country.
The deals came after the talks between the US President and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, during the first state visit by a US President to Qatar.
Qatar Airways finalized an agreement with Boeing and GE Aerospace to acquire up to 210 American-made Boeing 787 Dreamliner and 777X aircraft, which are powered by GE Aerospace. The deal is valued at $96 billion.
Qatar will also acquire "counter-drone" capabilities from the US defence company, Raytheon. The deal is valued at one billion dollars and will help Qatar advance its defence system.
In addition to these agreements, the Gulf country will acquire MQ-9B drones from General Atomics in a deal worth two billion dollars.
The White House said on Wednesday evening that the deal the US and Qatar signed on Wednesday will "generate an economic exchange worth at least $1.2 trillion."
