Ration Card Fees Waived for Seniors, Retirees, and More in Qatar

Big news if you or your family rely on ration cards — the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) just announced that several groups in Qatar will no longer have to pay fees for issuing or replacing them.

Who Gets the Exemption?

Under Decision No. (22) of 2025, signed by Minister H.E. Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani, these groups are covered:

  • People with disabilities

  • Social security beneficiaries

  • Citizens aged 60 and above

  • Retirees

What’s Covered?

The exemption means no more fees for:

  • Issuing a new ration card

  • Replacing a lost one

  • Fixing a damaged one

Basically, all the card-related admin that used to cost money is now free for eligible groups.

When Does It Start?

The decision kicks in the day after its publication in the Official Gazette — so the relief is coming fast.

Why It Matters

MOCI says the move is part of efforts to ease financial burdens and give extra support to groups that need it most, making daily life a little lighter.
