Fans attending the FIFA World CupTM this year are urged to get familiar with Qatar's COVID-19 Travel & Return Policy, which was amended by the Ministry of Public Health on August 31, 2022, according to the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC).

Important information for international Hayya Card holders going to the World Cup:

Visitors entering Qatar for the FIFA World CupTM must undergo the following COVID-19 testing procedures, regardless of their vaccination status:

Visitors six years of age and older must provide a certified negative COVID-19 PCR test result obtained no later than 48 hours prior to departure, or a certified negative Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) result obtained no later than 24 hours prior to departure. The test results must be turned in at the airport check-in desk. Observation: The test should be performed at a hospital in the country of origin. Travel-related RAT self-tests are invalid.

  • Before traveling to Qatar, children under the age of six do not need to present a negative COVID-19 test result.
  • Regardless of their vaccination status, place of origin, or other factors, travelers entering Qatar are not subject to quarantine.
  • The Ministry of Public Health will require anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 while in Qatar to isolate in accordance with its regulations.
  • After arriving in Qatar, visitors are not needed to undergo a COVID-19 test.
  • Before leaving Qatar, no traveler is required to take a COVID-19 test. However, visitors should review the conditions in their country of destination and adhere to any unique COVID-19 travel regulations.

Masks are required in the following circumstances:

  • inside medical facilities
  • in a public place

All visitors to Qatar who are 18 years of age or older are obliged to download and install the EHTERAZ application on their mobile phones upon arrival. To enter any open-air, public facility, the user must have a green EHTERAZ status proving they do not have a proven COVID-19 case.

When landing at Qatar's entry ports, visitors must download and activate the Ehteraz app on their mobile phones. The traveler needs the following to do that:

  • International SIM card or a SIM card from one of Qatar's service providers, such as Vodafone or Ooredoo.
  • Mobile internet connection.
  • The smartphone should be compatible with iOS 13.5 and later versions or Android 6 and newer.
  • Using Google Play, the Apple App Store, or any online search engine, download and install the app on your smartphone.
  • If the traveler does not already have a SIM card or smartphone, they can buy one at the Hamad International Airport at the Abu Samra border crossing.

Health insurance:

All of Qatar's private and public hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies provide access to medical care for visitors. Hayya Card holders will receive free urgent and emergency medical care at public hospitals. The Ministry of Public Health does, however, highly advise fans traveling to Qatar to purchase travel insurance (including healthcare coverage) for the duration of their stay.
