'Golden' from KPop Demon Hunters Just Made U.K. Chart History

“Golden,” the catchy standout from Netflix’s animated musical KPop Demon Hunters, just hit No. 1 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart, making it the first K-pop track to do so since PSY’s global viral smash “Gangnam Style” back in 2012.

Credited to HUNTR/X and performed by EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami, the song skyrocketed from No. 9 to the top in just a week, riding a wave of fan love and social media buzz. It’s also heating up on the Billboard Hot 100, currently sitting pretty at No. 2.

While BTS and BLACKPINK have had huge chart moments (remember “Dynamite” and “Butter” both peaking at No. 3, and Rosé’s “APT.” hitting No. 2?), none have taken the crown in the U.K.—until now.

And it’s not just “Golden” making noise. Two more KPop Demon Hunters tracks broke into the Top 20:

  • “Your Idol” by Saja Boys (Andrew Choi, Neckwav, Danny Chung, Kevin Woo, and samUIL Lee) lands at No. 10,
  • “Soda Pop” sizzles at No. 11.

Animated tracks ruling the U.K. isn’t totally new. Remember Encanto’s “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” (2022)? Or throwbacks like Crazy Frog and Bob the Builder? Yup—Golden joins a quirky but iconic club of cartoon chart-toppers.

Meanwhile, last week’s No. 1, Justin Bieber’s “Daisies,” slips to second place, and MK & Chrystal’s “Dior” steps down to No. 3 after a two-week reign. Newcomers Drake & Central Cee’s “Which One?” debut at No. 4, with Sabrina Carpenter’s “Manchild” rounding out the Top 5.

Also charting again? Rock legend Ozzy Osbourne. After a recent tribute in Birmingham, Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid” jumps to No. 20, while “Crazy Train” climbs to a new peak at No. 25.

K-pop, animation, and a splash of nostalgia—this week’s U.K. chart is anything but boring.
