Two Dead, 559 Arrested During PSG Victory Celebrations

Celebrations turned chaotic in France after Paris Saint-Germain’s historic Champions League victory — with two dead and hundreds arrested.

Following PSG’s 5-0 triumph over Inter Milan in the Champions League final, thousands poured into the streets of Paris and beyond to celebrate the club's first-ever European title. But amid the jubilation, France’s interior ministry confirmed grim consequences on Sunday: two deaths and 559 arrests linked to the night’s events.

A 17-year-old boy was fatally stabbed in the southwestern town of Dax during a street gathering held to mark the Parisian club’s victory. Meanwhile, in southwest Paris, a woman riding a scooter died after being struck by a car, the ministry reported.

The celebrations, particularly in the capital, spiraled into disorder. Out of the 559 total arrests, a staggering 491 were in Paris alone. Authorities have not yet confirmed how many of these were related to property damage, violence, or public disturbances, but video footage circulating on social media shows clashes between police and football fans, fireworks in the streets, and chaotic crowd behavior.

Saturday night's win was meant to be a once-in-a-lifetime moment for PSG fans — but the aftermath has left many in mourning and the city facing tough questions about safety during large-scale public celebrations.

Pro tip: If you're heading out to celebrate big wins, stay aware of your surroundings, travel in groups, and avoid high-tension zones.
