Paris Saint-Germain Wins FIFA Intercontinental Cup 2025

Paris Saint‑Germain made history on December 17, 2025, by winning the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, defeating Brazil’s Flamengo in a dramatic penalty shootout after a 1‑1 draw in regular and extra time at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar

The standout performance came from PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov, whose remarkable heroics in the shootout—saving four penalties—proved decisive in securing the club’s first Intercontinental Cup title.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia opened the scoring for PSG in the first half, but Flamengo’s Jorginho converted a second‑half penalty to level the match before spot kicks.

This victory caps a remarkable year for the French giants, marking their sixth major trophy of 2025—a feat known as a sextuple—after capturing Ligue 1, the French Cup, the Trophée des Champions, the UEFA Champions League, and the UEFA Super Cup earlier in the season. Only a handful of clubs in football history have achieved such dominance across domestic and international competitions.

Under the guidance of coach Luis Enrique, PSG’s all‑star squad delivered on the promise of a historic campaign, with the Intercontinental Cup win solidifying their place among the world’s elite clubs.
