The Corniche Road to be Closed from 3 to 5 May

The concerned authorities at the Ministry of Interior announced the diversion of traffic on the Corniche Road during the period from 3 to 5 May, starting from dawn on Tuesday, 3 May to midnight on Thursday, 5 May, so that the Corniche Road will be open to users as of the sixth morning May, in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic at the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Transportation.

According to this announcement, traffic will be closed starting May 3 from Sharq Intersection towards Sheraton Intersection in the north, and from Sheraton Intersection to Mina Intersection in the south, while all estuaries leading to the Corniche Road will be closed, namely: Al Fardan, Al Jasra, Al Marmar, Al Diwan, Al Maha, and Civil Defense intersections, Barzan heading to the Corniche.

The Qatar News Agency stated that to facilitate the movement of the public to reach the Corniche, alternative means of transportation will be provided instead of using vehicles, as there are 37 metro stations scattered throughout the country, including 7 stations that directly serve the Corniche, including Al Bidda, the Corniche, and West Bay, in addition to providing The Corniche bus service and the second and third ring road that reach the Corniche, in addition to the areas designated for pedestrians on the road.

The concerned authorities at the Ministry of Interior appeal to the public to cooperate with the traffic police and abide by traffic diversions to ensure the safety and security of all occupants of the Corniche Road, and to advise the use of alternative roads designated for vehicles, namely: First Ring Road and Istiqlal Street.

Engineer Muhammad Ali Al-Marri, Secretary of the Committee responsible for managing the Corniche Road closure plan and a design engineer at the Public Works Authority “Ashghal”, said that the Public Works Authority is working in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior to plan, design and implement the Corniche Road closure plan and complete the construction work for the infrastructure to facilitate the movement of Traffic during the closing period.

He added that the Public Works Authority will provide, during the closure period, 17 public transport buses loading and unloading stations on the Corniche, bringing the total to 25 stations, in addition to installing about 55 fixed and variable directional panels on the road network to guide drivers to use alternative routes, And the installation of more than 200 guiding panels for visitors along the Corniche, as well as the development of a number of intersections and the reprogramming of the timing of traffic lights with the aim of facilitating traffic, and the development of 40 traffic light intersections to ensure the safety of pedestrians.

It is worth noting that Qatar Tourism is organizing, from May 3 to 5, along the Doha Corniche, the activities of the Eid Festival as part of its celebration of Eid Al Fitr for the current year, in coordination with the Ministry of Interior and the Public Works Authority "Ashghal".
