The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced that Al Wakra Intersection will be temporarily closed at night on Thursday and Friday, February 12 and 13, 2026, as part of scheduled maintenance work, officials confirmed on Monday, February 9.
The night-time closure will be in effect from midnight until 5 a.m. on both days, during which the main intersection will be inaccessible to traffic to allow crews to carry out essential infrastructure maintenance in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic.
While the intersection itself will be closed, right-turn lanes will remain open to help motorists continue their journeys with minimal disruption, Ashghal said. Drivers approaching the area from Doha, Al Wakra, Ras Abu Fontas Street, and Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Street are urged to use these lanes and follow clearly marked traffic diversion signs to reach their destinations.
The maintenance work forms part of ongoing road improvement efforts aimed at enhancing safety, traffic flow and travel efficiency across Qatar’s major transport routes. Ashghal typically schedules such work at night to reduce its impact on daytime travel and commuter traffic.
Motorists are advised to plan their travel routes, allow extra time for journeys during the closure hours, and keep up to date with any further traffic advisories issued by Ashghal or local authorities.
