In a major traffic advisory, the World Summit for Social Development set to take place in Doha from November 4–6 has prompted the Ministry of Interior (Qatar) to announce a series of temporary road closures.
Beginning at 6 am and running until 5:00 p.m. on November 4, several key arterial roads and exits will be closed to traffic. Among the closures: the exit from Hamad International Airport Road via Ras Bu Abboud Road up to the Al Sharq Interchange; and the exit from Airport Park Street on the C-Ring Road up to the same interchange.
Further closures include the stretch of Corniche Road from Al Sharq Intersection up to the National Theatre Interchange, as well as Mohammed bin Thani Street from the National Theatre Intersection to the Wadi Al Sail Interchange.
Additional affected routes include Al Bidaa Street from Wadi Al Sail Intersection to the Al Maha Interchange; Khalifa Street from Al Maha Intersection up to the Gharrafat Al Rayyan Interchange; Golf Stadium Street from the Leqtaifiya Intersection to the Golf Club Interchange; and University Street from Golf Club Intersection up to the Television Interchange.
These road closures underscore the scale and importance of the summit, which is expected to host heads of state, government officials and representatives from international and regional organisations.
The measures aim to ensure security, smooth access and uninterrupted flow of summit-related activities in Doha.
Commuters and residents are advised to plan alternative routes and allow extra travel time on November 4. As the roadwork coincides with major traffic arteries in the city centre and airport exit routes, early departure and use of public transport or ride-sharing could ease disruptions.
