Qatar Plans to Launch Water Taxis from Corniche to Lusail

The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has unveiled plans for a water taxi service aimed at transforming travel along Qatar’s waterfront. Designed to ease traffic congestion and integrate seamlessly with the existing public transit network, the service is set to connect key locations in Doha and beyond.

Lusail Ferry Terminal: The Hub of Innovation

Central to the project is the Lusail Ferry Terminal, a state-of-the-art facility spanning over 2,200 square meters. This terminal will act as the heart of the new transport system, with its sleek design and modern amenities, including ticketing services and comfortable waiting areas.

Phase one of the rollout includes three key stops: Lusail Ferry Terminal, the Pearl Ferry Stop, and Corniche Ferry Stop. Future expansions will extend services to Katara, Old Doha Port, Hamad International Airport, and Al Wakra. The ultimate goal is an extensive network linking Old Doha Port to Al Khor, passing through Lusail City and Simaisma, a location poised to become a major attraction.

Eco-Friendly and High-Tech Ferries

These aren’t your typical ferries. The water taxis are equipped with cutting-edge technology, designed for maximum comfort and environmental sustainability. The Lusail terminal will accommodate four ferries, each 24 meters long, and offer electric charging stations, emphasizing Qatar’s commitment to eco-friendly innovation.

A New Era for Commuters and Tourists

The new water taxi service promises a scenic and efficient alternative to traditional road travel. Whether you’re a resident escaping the city’s traffic or a tourist exploring Doha’s stunning coastline, this service is expected to redefine transportation in Qatar.

With operations set to begin soon, the initiative highlights Qatar's dedication to sustainable and convenient urban mobility.
