Saudi Crown Prince Declares Diriyah Project as PIF Fifth Giga-Project

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia and chairman of the Public Investment Fund (PIF) declared on Monday the Diriyah Project as PIF's fifth giga-project.

The PIF's giga-projects portfolio now include NEOM, Red Sea, Qiddiya, Roshn, and Diriyah projects.

The Diriyah Project reflects Saudi Arabia's 300 years of history, showcasing Diriyah's unique cultural, historical, and tourism landmarks to support the country's position as a leading tourism and cultural destination.

The giga-project is home to several significant natural and historical monuments, including the Turaif District UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Diriyah Project is expected to create partnerships with the local private sector, and to attract new investment opportunities in the Saudi hotel, retail, and entertainment industries.

The city of Diriyah was constructed in the 15th century along a curve on the outskirts of Riyadh, and was named the capital of the Emirate of Diriyah, also known as the First Saudi State, in 1727.
