Qatar to Host Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit on This Date

Qatar has officially announced that it will host an emergency Arab-Islamic summit in Doha on 14-15 September 2025 to address the fallout from the Israeli airstrike on its capital. This follows a preparatory meeting of foreign ministers preceding the summit, as stated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The airstrike in question occurred on 9 September 2025 and targeted buildings in Doha housing Hamas leadership. Qatar has condemned the strike as a breach of its sovereignty. The incident resulted in several fatalities, including lower-level members of Hamas and a Qatari security officer. Hamas reports that its top leadership survived the attack

Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani has described the strike as “reckless behavior” and pledged that the region’s response during the upcoming summit will be “meaningful”, — aiming to deter future violations.

The summit will bring together Arab and Islamic states to discuss legal, diplomatic, and security dimensions of the strike. Expected agenda items include assessing violations of international law, contemplating collective regional measures, and reaffirming protection of sovereignty in the face of cross-border operations.

Several regional leaders have already flown into Doha to express solidarity. The UAE’s president and Saudi Arabia’s crown prince are among those expected to attend or send high-level delegations. Egypt has also sent its foreign minister to Doha to show support.

Qatar has emphasized that it will not tolerate violations of its territorial integrity and that it expects condemnation and possible action from the international community. This summit may mark a significant moment in how Gulf and broader Arab-Islamic states respond diplomatically to airstrikes that cross established borders.

As the world watches, outcomes from the summit may influence ongoing mediation efforts in the Gaza conflict, especially since the targeted meeting in Doha had been tied to cease-fire negotiations. The summit’s decisions could affect both regional alliances and international diplomatic pressures in the coming weeks.
