Qatar Ranks First Worldwide in Mobile Internet Speed

Qatar ranked first in the world in terms of mobile internet speed during the FIFA World Cup in November 2022, according to Ookla's Speedtest Global Index Rankings report.

The median download speed in Qatar was 176.18 Mbps while the upload maintained a 25.13 Mbps speed.

This is an upward move of two positions from a 98.10 Mbps median download speed in November 2021.

According to a network performance analysis of Ooredoo and Vodafone, Al Janoub Stadium recorded the fastest median 5G download performance at 757.77 Mbps, and all World Cup venues reported median 5G speeds more than 400 Mbps.

Next on the list was the UAE at 139.41 Mbps median download speed, which ranked the fastest in November 2021.
