Qatar to Provide Recycling Containers to Every Household

In a significant effort to promote recycling, Qatari authorities have announced plans to provide waste containers to every household in the country over the next five years.

As part of the Ministry of Municipality's comprehensive program to enhance recycling and foster a circular economy, an initiative has been launched to promote waste segregation at the source.

This initiative seeks to distribute waste containers to every household in Qatar, encouraging residents to actively participate in recycling efforts.

Muqbil Madhour Al Shammari, Director of the General Cleanliness Department, has disclosed that the distribution of waste containers will begin in June this year, starting in Doha and gradually expanding to other regions of Qatar over the next two years.

The primary objective of the program is to educate citizens about effective waste disposal practices and offer collection vehicles for sorted waste.

The waste container distribution program in Qatar will introduce two types of containers: grey for food waste and blue for recyclable materials. The objective is to promote responsible waste management and minimize landfill waste. Containers of various sizes will be placed outside homes, and initially, households will receive two containers to facilitate collection logistics. State-of-the-art equipment in recycling factories will aid in effective segregation of recyclable materials.
