Abdullah Al-Mannai, Director of the Department of Meteorology of the Civil Aviation Authority, said that the Department of Meteorology witnessed during the last period the launch of new services in preparation for the Qatar World Cup 2022, and these services were represented by the launch of the (fifaweather2022) website concerned with providing weather and climate information services during the months of November and December 2022, in addition to the introduction of these services in the Qatar Meteorological application, which constituted additional evidence of the great quest to provide the best services during the sporting event.

Al-Mannai said in an interview with Sky Qatar magazine issued by the General Authority of Civil Aviation, "There are automatic monitoring stations in 6 stadiums that will host the 2022 World Cup matches, and near two other stadiums there will be monitoring stations soon, and the total number of monitoring stations in the State of Qatar is 38, and he pointed out that The accuracy of meteorological forecasts for the State of Qatar exceeds 95%.

With regard to the FIFA WEATHER website for weather information during November and December 2022, it will include all weather information provided by devices that monitor important climate variables and that help in weather forecasts related to the eight stadiums in the State of Qatar where the World Cup matches will be held, as well as the surrounding areas.

Where the website will show the information of the stations for each stadium, which includes many weather elements such as the speed and direction of the wind and types of clouds, in addition to the possibility of rain, the extent of horizontal visibility, and all recorded temperatures, and all monitoring processes will be subject to a continuous update.

This service was also launched and developed within the application under the name of weather conditions in the 2022 World Cup, which will also allow users to obtain special views of the various climatic elements and weather variables directly and around the clock for the locations of the World Cup stadiums, with a continuous update that ensures the transmission of the actual image of the weather, to reach the public and the rest of the service and security sectors smoothly.

The number of subscribers to the application has so far reached about 97 thousand, and it is expected that this number will witness a significant increase, especially with the approach of the start of the 2022 World Cup in the month of November.

Al-Mannai said, with regard to future plans, it can be said that the process of expansion and upgrades in all devices used in our field is a continuous process permanently and will not stop, with the aim of keeping pace with the changes in this field. And getting acquainted with all the new means and techniques capable of making the process of forecasting, monitoring, and controlling climate changes more accurate, efficient, and more beneficial to society and the rest of state institutions and service bodies whose work is related to the weather.
