Qatari weightlifter Ikhlef Ouissal had a week to remember in Doha, sweeping nine gold medals across three major championships in one dominant showing.

Competing in the over 86kg category, Ikhlef topped every event at the combined championships, which include the Qatar International Weightlifting Cup, the Arab Championships, and the West Asian Championships.

A Clean Sweep on Home Ground

Ikhlef claimed gold in the snatch, clean and jerk, and total at all three competitions — that’s three golds per championship, nine in total.

Her standout numbers:

  • 116kg in the snatch

  • 161kg in the clean and jerk

  • 277kg total

That 161kg clean and jerk also marked a new personal best, edging past her previous record.

Strong Competition, Stronger Performance

At the Qatar International Cup, Ikhlef finished ahead of Thailand’s Supachanen Khamheng and South Korea’s Lee Hyun, who took silver and bronze respectively.

She repeated the same gold-medal dominance at the Arab Championships, beating Algeria’s Amina Mamoun Yahya and Egypt’s Shams Mohamed Ahmed.

In the West Asian Championships, Ikhlef once again stood alone at the top, facing little resistance as she closed out her golden run.
