OWWA Opens Pharmacy Giving OFWs & Families Up to ₱20K Free Medicines

Good news for our modern-day heroes! The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) just launched its very own pharmacy, “Alagang OWWA Botika,” giving overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families access to up to ₱20,000 worth of free medicines every year.

The pharmacy is located at the OWWA Center Building on F.B. Harrison Street, Pasay City, and was officially opened by OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan.

75 Types of Medicines Available

According to Caunan, the botika carries around 75 types of medicines, including maintenance drugs, all free for OFWs and their dependents.

Free Checkups Every Friday

OWWA also hosts “YAKAP Day” every Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., where OFWs and their families can get free consultations with accredited doctors. Any medicine prescribed during these sessions can then be claimed at the Alagang OWWA Botika, which operates Mondays to Fridays, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Who Can Avail

The program covers active, inactive, retired, and repatriated OWWA members with a valid PhilHealth number.

OWWA said the initiative aims to build a more complete healthcare support system for OFWs—starting with consultations and ending with free medicines in hand.
