If you're a Qatari citizen or resident eyeing the FIFA World Cup 2026, the US Embassy in Qatar has a clear message: don’t wait till the last minute to sort your travel docs.

Here’s What You Need to Know

The embassy posted on August 6 urging travellers to apply early for their ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) or US visa. Why? Because last-minute applications = travel stress.

Who Can Apply for ESTA?

Qatari passport holders are part of the US Visa Waiver Program, which means they can apply for an ESTA and stay in the US for up to 90 days—no visa needed. Just make sure to submit your ESTA request at least 72 hours before flying out.

What About Residents?

Qatar residents who don’t qualify for ESTA will need to go the traditional US visa route—so again, apply early. Processing can take a while, especially when it’s World Cup season.
