The Qatari government has announced a reduction in the cost of school transportation for non-Qatari students enrolled in public schools who are not GCC nationals. The new fee will be QAR 220 per semester, which is a significant decrease from the previous fee of QAR 700.

In addition, the government has also decided to waive the costs of books and transportation for imams and muezzins connected to the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs.

In a statement, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education said that the reduction in school transportation fees and the waiver of book and transportation costs for imams and muezzins are part of its commitment to providing high-quality education to all students and their families.

The Qatari government has exempted children of Qatari women and students with disabilities from paying the QAR 150 fee for textbooks and transportation for the 2023-2024 academic year.

The decision will be put into effect at the start of the 2023–2024 academic year.
