MetroLink Expands Network to Include Old Doha Port and Mina District
Metrolink’s New M315 Extension Brings Old Doha Port & Mina District onto Doha Metro Map
Doha’s public transport network has taken a step forward with the latest expansion of MetroLink, the feeder bus service that complements the Doha Metro. On Wednesday, October 1, Karwa announced that the M315 route will now include Old Doha Port, offering commuters direct service into the Mina District, one of the city’s rapidly developing waterfront and cultural hubs.
A key part of this update is the addition of a new stop at Souq Waqif station, which significantly enhances accessibility for both residents and visitors heading toward Mina. By connecting the established Souq Waqif area with the port and Mina, MetroLink improves first- and last-mile transit options, reducing dependence on private cars or ad hoc transport.
The expansion aims to make travel more convenient, especially to some of Doha’s most vibrant destinations. Old Doha Port and Mina District are known for their cultural attractions, waterfront promenades, shops, cafés, and hospitality offerings. With this extension, MetroLink’s footprint is expanding into an area that marries Doha’s maritime heritage with its growing tourism, retail, and entertainment sectors.
For commuters, the changes mean shorter walk times, simpler transfers, and better integration between metro stations and coastal destinations. The direct link from Souq Waqif station to Mina District via the M315 route reduces gaps in the transit network, potentially easing congestion around central Doha roads and improving travel choices.
This move reflects Qatar’s continued investment in public transport infrastructure, especially in feeder services that amplify the usability of the main metro lines. MetroLink’s adjustment shows responsiveness to urban growth patterns and popular demand, aligning transport services with evolving visitor and resident flows.
Over time, the expectation is that more areas around Doha’s waterfront and historical districts will become easier to reach by public transport—encouraging greater use of sustainable transit modes. For now, the inclusion of Old Doha Port and Mina District is a welcome improvement in the connectivity of Doha’s transit ecosystem.
