Big win for government school staff in Qatar! A new decision officially brings back the allowances and bonuses during vacation periods—something they lost back in 2019.

Under Resolution No. 23 of 2025, the Council of Ministers scrapped the old rule that excluded these payments from salaries during breaks. The only exceptions are a few specific cases, as outlined by the law.

Why It Matters

This move is meant to keep teachers and school staff motivated and financially secure—even when school’s out. The goal? Make the education sector more attractive, keep talented people around, and create a work environment where teachers want to stay and do their best.

When Does It Start?

The change kicked in on June 25, 2025, and applies to all government school employees across Qatar. It’s part of the country’s bigger plan to improve the education system and hit the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
