Qatar Airways to Operate Limited Repatriation Flights From Doha
Qatar Airways announces limited repatriation flights amidst restricted airspace; prioritizing stranded and vulnerable passengers.
Qatar Airways will operate a limited number of repatriation flights from Doha after receiving temporary authorisation to use a restricted operating corridor, as the country’s airspace remains closed to regular commercial operations.
The airline confirmed that scheduled flight operations remain temporarily suspended following the closure of Qatari airspace, with services expected to resume only once authorities declare conditions safe.
Limited relief corridor from Doha
Following approval from the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority, Qatar Airways plans to operate special repatriation flights on March 7 from Hamad International Airport to several major European destinations.
The approved routes include:
-
Heathrow Airport (LHR)
-
Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG)
-
Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport (MAD)
-
Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport (FCO)
-
Frankfurt Airport (FRA)
The airline stressed that these flights do not signal the full resumption of normal passenger services.
Priority for stranded and vulnerable passengers
Seats on the repatriation flights have been allocated directly by Qatar Airways to passengers most affected by the disruption.
Priority was given to stranded travellers with families, elderly passengers, and those with urgent medical or compassionate travel needs.
The airline urged passengers not to go to the airport unless they have received official notification confirming their booking.
“Passengers are kindly requested not to proceed to the airport unless they have already received an official notification from Qatar Airways for these flights,” the airline said in a statement.
More relief flights under consideration
Qatar Airways said it is working “around the clock” to organise additional relief flights where operationally possible and will provide updates once further arrangements are confirmed.
Passengers have been advised to ensure their contact details are updated through the airline’s website or mobile app so they can receive flight information and instructions.
Flexible travel options for affected passengers
As disruptions continue, travellers with confirmed bookings between February 28 and March 15, 2026, are eligible for flexible travel options.
These include complimentary date changes of up to 14 days from the original travel date or a refund of the unused portion of the ticket.
The airline emphasised that passenger and crew safety remains its highest priority during the ongoing disruption, adding that the situation remains beyond its control.
