Qatar Airways, China Southern Expand Partnership to 64 Weekly Flights
Qatar Airways and China Southern expand codeshare partnership, offering 64 weekly flights Between Doha and China
Qatar Airways and China Southern Airlines have announced a significant expansion of their codeshare partnership, boosting connectivity between Doha and China with 64 weekly flights ahead of the Golden Week holiday.
Starting 16 October 2025, Qatar Airways will place its code on China Southern’s three weekly non-stop flights between Beijing Daxing and Doha. In return, China Southern will extend its “CZ” code to 15 Qatar Airways-operated destinations across Africa, Europe, and the Middle East, including Athens, Barcelona, Cairo, Madrid, and Munich.
Qatar Airways Chief Commercial Officer Thierry Antinori said:
“Qatar Airways and China Southern have established a partnership that continues to set new benchmarks in the industry. This latest expansion ensures that every Qatar Airways route to China is now accessible to China Southern Airlines’ passengers, underlining our long-term commitment to a market that is integral to our growth and connectivity.”
The expanded deal comes just ahead of China’s Golden Week holiday, giving Chinese travellers access to over 170 destinations worldwide via Doha’s Hamad International Airport, which was named the Best Airport in the Middle East by Skytrax in 2025.
China Southern Airlines President and CEO Han Wensheng added:
“Beijing Daxing is a cornerstone of China Southern’s international development, and the launch of new Doha services further strengthens its role alongside our existing operations from Guangzhou. Together with Qatar Airways, we are expanding opportunities for Chinese passengers to reach destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas.”
The partnership builds on previous codeshares between Doha and Guangzhou, as well as new agreements covering flights to Chengdu, Chongqing, Hangzhou, and Shanghai—pending regulatory approval.
With this development, Qatar Airways, China Southern, and Xiamen Airlines will now collectively offer one of the most extensive networks in Greater China, operating 64 weekly flights across eight gateways. The network will be served by state-of-the-art aircraft, featuring Starlink’s free Wi-Fi connectivity.
Both airlines also plan to deepen cooperation in cargo operations and loyalty programmes, highlighting a shared commitment to sustainable growth and enhanced global connectivity.
