Sean Diddy Acquitted on Trafficking Charges

  • Publish date: since 19 hour

On July 2, 2025, a federal jury in New York acquitted Sean “Diddy” Combs of the most serious charges he faced: racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking.

The verdict came after a high-profile trial that lasted for seven weeks, including Combs’s former partner, Cassie “Cassie” Ventura.

However, the jury found Combs guilty on two counts of “transportation to engage in prostitution”, federal offenses under the Mann Act, which carry up to 10 years in prison each.

Sentencing remains pending, but it could range from 21 to 27 months.

What the Defense and Prosecution Said

Combs’s legal team maintained that the relationships central to the case were consensual and not the product of forced trafficking. They introduced supportive text messages and other evidence to reinforce this narrative.

Prosecutors argued Combs had abused his power—using drugs, money, and influence—to coerce women into “Freak-Off” sex parties featuring hired escorts, and that videos and over 1,000 bottles of baby oil supported their case. But the jury concluded there wasn’t enough evidence to convict him of trafficking or racketeering.

What Lies Ahead: Sentencing, Civil Suits, and Reputation

Judge Arun Subramanian is expected to decide on bail and sentencing dates at a later hearing. Combs was detained in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, but his legal team is pushing for a bond, proposing a $1 million bail and travel restrictions.

Diddy's bail hearing is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. (Eastern Time), according to the district executive’s office.
