A Nepal Airlines crew member found themselves in serious trouble after being arrested in Doha for suspected gold smuggling, according to a Nepal News report released on December 1.
Caught During Routine Check
The crew member was about to board a flight from Doha to Kathmandu when customs officers at Hamad International Airport pulled them aside for inspection. During the check, authorities found 93.3 grams of gold, which immediately raised red flags.

Flight Delayed, Staff Suspended
Because of the incident, the scheduled flight ended up being delayed by 35 minutes—not a massive delay, but still enough to affect the entire operation.
