World's Biggest Fashion Show to Kick off Before FIFA World Cup Final

Qatar Creates and CR Runway will feature 'the world’s biggest fashion show', Qatar Fashion United by CR Runway, on December 16 between the semifinal and championship games. Details about the event were released on Sunday.

This historic global show will feature pieces by over 150 designers from 50 nations and six continents, highlighting the connection of fashion, culture, music, and sports in front of 25,000 fans at the 974 Stadium in Ras Abu Aboud.

The epic fashion show and cultural event will draw attention to the ties between fashion, sport, and music that unite people and communities across cultures. They are being held under the auspices of Qatar Creates, the year-round initiative that curates, promotes, and celebrates the diversity of the country's cultural activities.

The catwalk's unprecedented scale will showcase tomorrow's creative talents, including 21 brands from Qatar and others from the Mena area, who will share the stage with the industry's most celebrated and well-known figures, according to a statement.

International superstars including DJ Snake, Kadim Al Sahir, Khaled, Nancy Ajram, Ozuna, Zakes Bantwini, and others will play exciting sets during the event. The event, which consists of four intricately choreographed runway shows, will commence with national ambassadors from the 32 World Cup participating nations wearing customized jerseys.

Then, two local Qatari brands, Aliya Al Obaidly and Harlienz, will perform a unique performance called "Where the Sand Touches the Sea," which is based on the country's long-standing tradition of pearl diving. Dana will sing a modern interpretation of the Gulf folk song "Tob Tob ya Bahar" by Qatari composer Hala al-Emadi.

The second act, "The Fashion World Tour," will be a magnificent celebration featuring outstanding works by designers from six continents. Act 3 and the show's finale, "One Night in Qatar," will be a spectacular display of haute couture and evening attire made especially for Qatar Fashion United by CR Runway. M7, Qatar's creative hub for entrepreneurship in fashion, design, and technology, will exhibit 21 brands with a presence in Qatar during the event.

The following brands with Qatari origins are taking part in the event: 1309, Aldukan, Aliya Al Obaidly, Tamader Alsultan, Drizzle, Ghada Al Buainain, Hairaat, Hamadis, Harlienz, Kaltham's Pavilion, Lorenaa Michelle, Maryam Al Darwish, Mhefhef, Muna Saad, Naila Al Thani, Trzi, TIIYA, WAAD

Qatar Fashion United by CR Runway will raise funds in support of Education Above All, a non-profit organization led by H.H. Sheikha Moza bint Nasser and HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani that offers educational opportunities to underserved children and youth and empowers women to take an active role in their communities. The cause will profit completely from ticket sales.

HE Sheikha Mayassa came up with the idea for Qatar Fashion United by CR Runway, which was then overseen by CR Runway CEO Vladimir Restoin Roitfeld and selected by French editor and visionary stylist Carine Roitfeld. After CR Runway x Luisaviaroma in Florence in 2019 and the CR Runway x AmfAR virtual show to battle against Covid-19 in 2020, this will be the third edition of CR Runway.
