Qatar Urges Citizens to Avoid Lebanon Travel Due to Clashes

In response to the recent armed clashes at the Ein El Hilweh refugee camp, Qatar has issued a warning to its citizens in Lebanon, urging them to avoid "areas of current events" on Saturday. Other Gulf nations have also cautioned against traveling to Lebanon due to the ongoing situation.

In a statement, the Qatari embassy in Lebanon urged citizens visiting the country “to take precautions, to stay away from the areas witnessing current events, and to adhere to the instructions issued by the competent local authorities.”

The statement, however, fell short of specifying the exact Lebanese areas.

“It appealed to Qatari citizens who are currently in Lebanon to contact the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Beirut in the event of emergencies,” the embassy added.

On July 29, armed conflicts broke out at the Ein El Hilweh camp in Sidon, Lebanon, involving members of Fatah and other Palestinian groups. The Ein El Hilweh camp is recognized as the largest Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon.

Since the start of the fighting, at least 13 individuals have lost their lives. The clashes stopped between Thursday and Saturday morning due to a ceasefire.
