DFA Confirms: No Filipinos Hurt in Israel’s Strike on Qatar

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced on Tuesday, September 10, that no Filipinos were hurt in Israel’s surprise strike in Doha, Qatar. The Philippine Embassy confirmed that none of the 200,000 Filipinos in the country were directly affected.

Safety Reminder Issued

The DFA advised Filipinos in Qatar to stay indoors, avoid public spaces, and keep track of embassy updates. Embassy officials are closely monitoring the situation and checking on the Filipino community.

“The Embassy urges all Filipino nationals to remain calm, monitor news from credible sources, and heed the advice of local authorities,” the DFA said.

Israel Targets Hamas in Doha

The strike, carried out on September 9, marked Israel’s first attack on Qatari soil. Witnesses reported explosions and smoke in the capital. Hamas confirmed that five of its members were killed, while Qatari officials said a local security officer also died.

Qatar’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, denounced the attack, calling it “state terrorism.”

The DFA has not yet issued a statement on its position regarding the incident.
