Qatar National Day marks the ascent of Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani to the leadership of the country. He took over as Qatar's leader in 1878 after his father's death. This marked the beginning of a new era of unity and independence for Qatar. 

Sheikh Jassim, who is considered the founder of the State of Qatar and ruled the country from 1878 to 1913, was known for his political and military acumen. He is widely respected as a national hero, and his legacy is celebrated annually on Qatar National Day.

Oman National Day events and activities

All regions of Qatar witness a lot of fun activities during this glorious Qatari National Day.

The national day is usually marked by a military parade, which showcases the country's armed forces and highlights their role in protecting the nation's sovereignty. 

There is an air show and a navy show for the public to enjoy on this day in the morning. These displays are performed by members of the Air Force and Navy. 

One of the most popular attractions of the day is the spectacular firework displays at the Doha Corniche, along with music and lighting. The fireworks also take place in other locations within the country, so people can choose the spots as per their preferences. 

Qataris also enjoy music and dance performances, sports competitions, and demonstrations of traditional skills such as weaving and pottery.

Moreover, several Qataris decorate their homes and vehicles with the national flag or the colors of the national flag.
