Qatar Confirms February 18 as First Day of Ramadan 2026

Qatar’s Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) has officially confirmed that Ramadan 2026 will begin on Tuesday, February 18.

Crescent Moon Spotting Confirms Start

The announcement follows the sighting of the Ramadan crescent, marking the beginning of the holy month for Muslims across Qatar.

What Ramadan Means

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and the holiest period of the year for Muslims. It commemorates the revelation of the Quran to Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him) during Laylat Al Qadr, the Night of Decree, observed in the last ten nights of the month.

During Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset, focusing on prayer, reflection, and acts of kindness.

How Long Will Ramadan 2026 Last?

The month lasts either 29 or 30 days, depending on the next crescent moon sighting that signals the start of Shawwal and Eid. For now, preparations are underway as Qatar officially welcomes Ramadan.
