Awqaf to Provide More Than 360K Iftar Meals During Ramadan 2026

The General Directorate of Endowments (Awqaf) at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has announced plans to serve more than 360,000 iftar meals during Ramadan 2026 as part of its annual charitable efforts to support fasting individuals and vulnerable communities across the country.

Unveiled at a press conference at the ministry headquarters, the “Iftar for Fasters” (Iftar Al-Sa’im) project, fully digitised and expanded this year, will operate at nine tent locations strategically placed in densely populated residential and labour areas throughout the holy month.

The initiative, run under the Endowment Fund for Righteousness and Piety, is one of Awqaf’s flagship community programmes during Ramadan, embodying the spirit of goodwill, compassion and social cohesion. Officials highlighted that the project aims not only meet the essential needs of workers and those in need but also to do so with dignity and organised support.

Addressing attendees at the launch, Eng Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Mir, Assistant Director-General of the General Directorate of Endowments and Chairman of the project committee, described the programme as a critical annual humanitarian effort with strong religious and social significance.

The expanded scheme incorporates digital management systems to improve efficiency, enhance monitoring and strengthen partnerships with community stakeholders, ensuring that meals are delivered smoothly throughout the month of fasting.

Organisers also confirmed that all food provided will adhere to approved health and nutritional standards, ensuring safe and balanced meals for recipients.

The Iftar for Fasters project reflects broader efforts in the region to support humanitarian causes during Ramadan, a time when charitable giving and community service are at the forefront of public life. Similar initiatives across the Gulf have seen millions of meals served to both local and international beneficiaries over the years.

As Ramadan approaches, authorities and volunteers alike are preparing to ensure the successful rollout of this large-scale support programme, reinforcing the values of solidarity and generosity that define the holy month.
