Japan Secured a Spot in the Asian Cup Last-16 by Defeating Indonesia

Japan secured a place in the Asian Cup last-16 by defeating Indonesia 3-1 in their Group D game.

Ayase Ueda scored twice for Japan, guaranteeing a top-two finish and qualification for the knockout stage.

Ueda opened the scoring for Japan with a penalty in the second minute, and his second goal, along with a strike from Ritsu Doan, sealed the victory.

Despite a late goal from Indonesia, Japan's solid performance secured their progression.

Moriyasu said, "After losing to Iraq we looked back to see what we need to improve and fix. My players were focused and able to perform at 100%."

"I asked my players to be more aggressive from the start. The early penalty allowed us to control the game for 90 minutes."

Both Japan and Iraq advanced to the last-16 stage of the tournament.
