Qatar's beach handball team has successfully secured a spot in the semi-finals of the Asian Beach Games Sanya 2026, continuing their flawless performance in the tournament. On Sunday, the defending champions defeated Thailand with a decisive 2-0 victory, sealing the match with set scores of 26-20 and 22-20.

This win extends Qatar's perfect run in the competition, allowing them to top Group B with a maximum of 12 points. The team's campaign began with consecutive victories over Pakistan and Oman, followed by dominant displays against Bangladesh, Mongolia, and Jordan. With their semi-final berth confirmed, the squad is now preparing to conclude their preliminary round fixtures against the Maldives on Monday.

The semi-finals are scheduled for Tuesday, with the championship final set for Thursday. As the reigning titleholders, the Qatari side is aiming to maintain their unbeaten streak and successfully defend their crown in Sanya.

Beyond beach handball, Qatar has seen success in other disciplines at the games. In beach volleyball, the nation's top duo of Sherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan advanced to the quarter-finals following a straight-sets victory (21-10, 21-16) against their compatriots, Mohammed Ehab and Mousa Al Khair, in an all-Qatar Round of 16 clash. The leading pair topped Group B with a perfect record, having defeated teams from Maldives, Uzbekistan, and Iran. They are now set to face China in the quarter-finals on Monday.

In 3x3 basketball, the Qatari men's team, having already secured wins over Bahrain and Kazakhstan, will face India in their final preliminary round match on Monday in a bid to confirm the top spot in their group. On the women's side, the team looks to recover from an opening loss to China as they prepare to take on Kazakhstan in their second group match.

Additionally, Qatar's men's wrestling team is finalizing preparations for their competition, which commences on Tuesday. The squad features Saad Al Hammadi in the 80kg category and Hamad Al Nuaimi in the 70kg category. Both athletes are aiming to deliver strong performances that highlight the continued development of wrestling in the country, viewing the event as a valuable opportunity to gain experience against Asia's elite competitors.
