Charlie Kirk’s Accused Killer Charged With Murder, Death Penalty Ahead

Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old accused of gunning down conservative activist Charlie Kirk in Utah, has officially been hit with an aggravated murder charge. Prosecutors say they’re not holding back—he’s also facing the death penalty.

What happened

Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA and a close ally of Donald Trump, was shot in the neck while speaking at a Utah university last week. The shooter reportedly fired from a rooftop with a rifle, sparking a 33-hour manhunt before Robinson was caught.

The extra charges

On top of murder, Robinson is also charged with obstruction of justice, witness tampering (he allegedly told his roommate to keep quiet), felony firearm discharge, and committing a violent crime with kids nearby.

Prosecutor’s call

Utah County attorney Jeff Gray said the evidence was more than enough to move forward with the toughest possible punishment. “I am filing a notice of intent to seek the death penalty,” he announced, stressing that it was a decision made “based solely on the available evidence and circumstances.”
