Carlos Queiroz Is Selected as Qatar National Team's New Head Coach

Qatar Football Association (QFA) selected on Monday, February 6th, Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz as the new head coach of Qatar's national football team until 2026.

General Secretary of QFA, Mansoor Al Ansari, said Queiroz will be fixated on leading the national football team in the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) Gold Cup in June.

The 69-year-old famed football coach has recently managed the Iran team, and he led them to three consecutive World Cups in 2014, 2018, and 2022.

Queiroz resigned after Iran’s exit at the World Cup, leaving him as the longest-serving manager in the history of the Iran national team.

Prior to that, he served as the manager of European football teams such as Spanish giants Real Madrid and as the assistant manager of Manchester United.

Queiroz also led several international football teams, including South Africa, Colombia, Egypt, and UAE.
