Bomb Blast Near Pakistan Rally Leaves 15 Dead, Dozens Hurt

A political rally in Quetta, Pakistan, turned tragic on Tuesday night when a suicide bomber struck outside the venue, killing 15 people and injuring over 30. The Islamic State later claimed responsibility.

The blast happened in the parking lot near the Balochistan National Party (BNP) gathering, held to honor former provincial chief minister Ataullah Mengal.

Tight Security Prevented Bigger Tragedy

Authorities said the attacker failed to get inside the rally thanks to heavy security. “The damage would have been much greater if the bomber had reached the venue,” officials confirmed. Over 120 police officers had been deployed for safety.

Balochistan Under Constant Threat

Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest but poorest province, regularly faces violence from separatist groups and extremist outfits. Just earlier this year, bombings, train hijackings, and attacks on public places have shaken the region.

Leaders Condemn the Attack

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the blast, calling it evidence of terrorists’ attempts to spread chaos in the province. Survivors described scenes of panic, with people screaming and wounded lying on the ground.
