Nasser Al Attiyah Claims Historic 9th Victory at Oman Rally

Qatari rally icon Nasser Al Attiyah continued his dominance of regional motorsport by winning the 2026 Oman Rally, securing a record-extending ninth victory at the prestigious event and marking his 92nd career win in the Middle East Rally Championship (MERC).

The latest triumph further cements Al Attiyah’s status as the most successful driver in MERC history, adding another milestone to his decorated career.

Strong performance secures top spot

Al Attiyah delivered a commanding performance across the rally stages to finish first overall, ahead of Omani driver Abdullah Al Rawahi, who thrilled home fans with an impressive second-place result.

Completing the podium was Nasser Khalifa Al-Attiyah, who not only claimed third overall but also secured victory in the Masters Cup category, adding another highlight to the competitive weekend.

Mechanical setbacks for other Qatari drivers

Elsewhere in the field, Qatari drivers Mohammed Al Marri and Rashed Al Mohannadi were forced to retire after encountering mechanical issues. Both drivers had been leading their respective categories before their withdrawals.

Focus shifts to Qatar International Rally

With the Oman Rally concluded, attention now turns to the next round of the 2026 Middle East Rally Championship — the Qatar International Rally, scheduled to take place in Doha from February 5 to 7.

The upcoming event is expected to deliver another intense chapter in the championship battle, as the region’s top rally drivers compete for crucial points early in the season.
