A plastic surgeon in Qatar has been sentenced to three months in jail after performing two incorrect surgeries that left a patient disfigured. According to Al Sharq’s July 20 report, the First Instance Criminal Court also ordered the surgeon and the hospital to each pay a fine of QR 2,000.
Patient Seeks QR 30 Million Compensation
On top of the criminal ruling, the victim is claiming QR 30 million in damages in a civil case, now referred to the competent court. The patient initially went in for a filler removal, but post-surgery complications led to infections, followed by a second procedure that worsened her condition.

Negligence and Lack of Skill Highlighted
The court found the doctor guilty of negligence, carelessness, and violating medical ethics. He reportedly rushed into surgery, even after signs of persistent infection. A medical committee concluded that the doctor lacked experience and failed to follow the appropriate steps for the procedure.
Hospital Also Held Accountable
The hospital, where the doctor works, was also held responsible for failing to ensure patient safety. The second defendant—presumably a hospital representative—was brought to trial for lack of proper oversight.
