Qatari nationals no longer need a traditional Canadian visa. As of 25 November 2025, they can use the Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) system to enter or transit Canada, making trips simpler and faster.
This step comes after close cooperation between Qatar and Canada, including a visit from a Canadian immigration delegation to Qatar in June 2024, ensuring local procedures meet Canadian standards.
How the eTA Works
The eTA is designed for citizens of visa-exempt countries. Key points:
-
Fast approval: Apply online and get authorization in minutes.
-
Validity: Up to five years, or until passport expiry.
-
Multiple entries: Each stay can last up to six months.
-
Fee: 7 Canadian dollars per application.
How to Apply
Qatari travellers can apply by scanning the QR code in the official announcement or visiting Canada’s immigration website: Apply for eTA.
