Authorities coordinate with supermarkets and factories to ensure stable supply chains and continuous access to essential goods.

The government of Qatar has announced that 60 retail outlets across the country will operate around the clock to help meet increased consumer demand and maintain stable supply chains.

According to officials from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), the move is part of a series of proactive measures aimed at ensuring the availability of essential goods and supporting market stability. Hassan Sultan Al-Ghanem said the initiative was introduced after authorities coordinated with major retail outlets to keep stores open 24 hours a day.

Speaking to Qatar TV, Al-Ghanem explained that the number of outlets operating around the clock has steadily increased. Initially, only 22 stores were open 24 hours, but the number has now grown to 60 outlets nationwide in response to rising demand.

The official also noted that the government has activated emergency procedures to help mitigate the impact of the current situation and ensure that consumers continue to have easy access to essential products.

In addition to extended retail hours, the country has ramped up production in key sectors.

Around 20 water factories are currently operating 24 hours a day, while several bakeries have extended their working hours to meet the increased demand for baked goods during the holy month of Ramadan.

Authorities said the measures are designed to reassure residents that supplies remain stable and that the government is working closely with retailers and manufacturers to maintain uninterrupted access to essential goods across the country.
