Qatar to Upgrade 18 Beaches with Food, Fun, and Shade

Qatar’s about to give your beach days a major upgrade. The Ministry of Municipality just kicked off a national project to revamp 18 public beaches across the country—think more shaded spots, kids’ play zones, food trucks, and better access all around.

Phase One Already Underway

According to Abdulaziz Al Rumaihi, Director of Projects Management and Development, the first phase already covers 8 beaches—Simaisma, Al Wakra, Sealine, Al Farkia, Al Ghariyah, Safa Al Touq, and Al Kharaij. More beaches are set to join the glow-up soon, in collaboration with Ashghal, local municipalities, and even private businesses.

What’s New at the Beaches?

You’re looking at wooden umbrellas (including for people with disabilities), 300 shaded seating areas, playgrounds with soft sand flooring, and dedicated restaurant and food cart spots. Even entrances and walkways are getting a visual upgrade with new landscaping and trees.

Summer-Ready and Safety-First

The beaches are being prepped for the hot season with extra care. That means more first-aid stations, shaded play areas, and round-the-clock cleaning crews for top hygiene in facilities like toilets and prayer rooms. Al Rumaihi also reminded visitors to follow health tips like applying sunscreen and avoiding peak sun hours.

Promos and Activities Incoming

The Ministry is also rolling out promo campaigns to highlight new services and monthly events (like those at Beach 974). The goal? Attract more local tourists and make beaches not just fun—but clean, safe, and sustainable.

What’s Next?

Future updates will add solar-powered lighting, green spaces, and ongoing maintenance based on real-time visitor feedback. So whether you're going for a chill solo sunset or a full-on family beach day—Qatar’s beaches are being built to match every vibe.
