Parents in Qatar can breathe easy. The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has confirmed that the recalled batch of Aptamil 1 infant formula is not available in the country and was never imported into Qatar.

The announcement came on January 26, following a product recall in the UK over possible contamination concerns.

What was recalled?

The recall in the UK involved Aptamil 1 First Infant Milk, 800g pack, from batch number 31-10-2026, with a best-before date of October 31, 2026.

The product was pulled as a precaution due to suspected contamination with cereulide toxin, which can be produced by Bacillus cereus bacteria.

Qatar market confirmed safe

According to the Ministry, the specific batch linked to the recall was not imported or distributed in Qatar, meaning it is not available in local stores.

Officials stressed that routine checks and strict import controls help ensure food products entering the country meet safety standards before reaching shelves.

How Qatar monitors food safety

The Ministry’s Food Safety Department regularly tracks international alerts and investigates any potential food risks. If concerns are flagged, teams act quickly to assess, contain, and eliminate hazards before they affect the public.

All incoming food shipments are inspected and analysed as part of Qatar’s wider effort to protect public health.
