Qatar Charity Donates 120k Iftar Meals to Turkey Earthquake Victims

In the month of February, Turkey and Syria experienced a devastating earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale, which claimed the lives of over 50,000 people.

Qatar Charity, a charitable organization based in Doha, has provided assistance to those affected by the earthquake and heavy rains in Gaziantep by donating around 120,000 hot iftar meals. The charity began distributing these meals from the first day of Ramadan through its office in Gaziantep, as per a statement released on Twitter.

The donation drive organized by Qatar Charity aimed to provide aid to people affected by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria. The recipients of the donations included families who had lost their homes and were living in tents and shelters, as well as those who were financially disadvantaged. The charity distributed hot iftar meals to these people, starting from the first day of Ramadan.

The areas that received the Iftar meals included Hatay, Kahramanmaras, and Adıyaman, which were hit the hardest by the earthquakes. Qatar Charity distributed 1,500 meals daily in Hatay, and 750 meals each in Kahramanmaras and Adıyaman during Ramadan.

The Mayor of Sahinbey expressed hope that the aid would improve the lives of families affected by the earthquake. The Director of the International Programmes and Development Department at Qatar Charity, Abdulaziz Jassim Hejji, believed that such aid efforts could foster social bonds, cooperation, and solidarity among people and communities.
