Qatar Central Bank Restores NAPS Services After Brief Glitch

Good news, cardholders! The Qatar Central Bank (QCB) confirmed that all services on the National ATM and Point of Sale (POS) network, known as NAPS, are officially back in action after a temporary technical issue hit the system on Monday evening.

The glitch caused a short-lived disruption in debit card transactions—specifically for users trying to make ATM withdrawals or in-store purchases on machines not tied to their card-issuing bank. So, if your card refused to swipe at a random store, it wasn’t just you!

QCB clarified that the glitch didn’t affect credit cards or Fawran, the instant payment platform, which continued to run smoothly as alternatives for users during the downtime.

Behind the scenes, QCB’s tech teams jumped in fast to identify and fix the issue, with services restored within approximately two hours.

In a statement, QCB reassured the public:

“These actions reflect our ongoing efforts to ensure seamless banking services that meet the needs of consumers and uphold the integrity of financial operations without interruption.”

The Central Bank emphasized its commitment to maintaining strong, stable, and resilient financial infrastructure in Qatar—even when unexpected bugs hit the system.

So, you're good to tap, swipe, or insert once again!
