Air India and SriLankan Airlines to Resume Flights at Hamad International Airport

Hamad International Airport (HIA) has released a comprehensive operational update detailing the phased resumption of flights for a wide range of international carriers. Announced on April 29, 2026, the schedule outlines the return of several key airlines to Doha, significantly expanding connectivity for passengers traveling to and from the Middle East hub.

Among the most anticipated additions to the roster are Air India and its low-cost subsidiary, Air India Express, both scheduled to commence operations on May 1, 2026. They will be joined on the same day by Gulf Air. Further expanding South Asian connectivity, SriLankan Airlines is set to begin its services slightly later, with flights resuming on May 11, 2026.

The updated schedule reveals a steady ramp-up of services throughout late April and May. Following the initial wave of resumption in late April—which included carriers like flydubai, Air Arabia, Oman Air, and Royal Jordanian—the airport will welcome Ethiopian Airlines on May 4. Later in the month, Kam Air is scheduled to return on May 16, followed by Royal Air Maroc on July 1, 2026.

The phased approach allows the airport and its partners to manage the influx of travelers efficiently while adhering to safety protocols and coordination with relevant aviation authorities. While the schedule provides a clear roadmap for the return of these airlines, HIA has advised passengers to contact their respective carriers directly for the most accurate booking information and specific flight timetables.

Airport authorities noted that while operations are proceeding as planned, flight schedules remain subject to adjustment or cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances beyond the airport's control. Travelers are encouraged to monitor official announcements from both the airport and their chosen airlines for real-time updates as the network fully restores its pre-disruption capacity.
